The 5/6 students have been very busy this week putting the finishing touches on their business plans, advertisements and banners. They finalized start up costs, compiled their grocery lists and to-do lists to make the businesses run smoothly next Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Their organization and planning has been incredibly impressive along the way. We can’t wait to set up shop on Monday afternoon.

Alongside the project, we have completed our pre-algebra unit. We have had great fun with “Hands-On Equations,” where we have been able to make algebra quite tangible and strengthen our understanding in the process. We have used small pawns and number cubes to represent variables and constants, and using a balance, we are able to solve complex equations quite easily. Next week we will finish up the accounting component of our project and fill out our profit and loss statements. We will then jump into our final unit of the year, geometry
