Dear 5/6 Families,
As I am sure you have heard from your children, our time with Lake Champlain Chocolates was a HUGE success! Our final CLIC Week of the year provided the students with the opportunity to participate in a project consistent with our mission and philosophy. Not only did the students learn about Fair Trade, but they created products for an authentic purpose and audience.
The 5/6’s creativity, knowledge, & poise impressed the Vermont Day School community and Lake Champlain Chocolate employees. I’d like to give a massive shout-out to all the students for taking a HUGE risk by pitching their ideas to in the Lake Champlain Chocolates boardroom.

The products were sorted into categories: ‘informational‘ ‘Promotional‘ or ‘Both’
Will & Matias worked on a Wristband Campaign. There idea is to sell wristbands in the giftshop and at events. The proceeds from these wristbands would go to the farmers who supply cacao to LCC.

Carleigh and Quinn wanted to make a taste-testing or “Sample Display” at local grocery stores. Customers could sample LCC’s Fair Trade chocolate bars and also learn about the benefits of purchasing Fair Trade products. “Your purchase makes a difference!”
Max & Zaki combined their ideas into make informational games for kids. They wrote an informational paragraph about Fair Trade and created comprehension word games to accompany it.
